Client:
McCarthy & Stone Ltd
Project:
Oxgangs Road North, Firrhill, Edinburgh
Scope of Works:
Roof tiling to new build retirement block of flats

This development, a typical McCarthy & Stone design, involved three roof tile specifications, multiple storeys, extensive detailing and a striking plain tile turret. Redland Richmond concrete tiles were specified for the outer panels to give a slate like appearance. As the construction team had limited space to operate, tower cranes were required so co-ordination of material deliveries in format for crane lifting was essential. Interaction with other trades was also critical due to the complexity of roof design. Joiners, bricklayers, plumbers and flat roofers were always in close proximity and it took cohesive planning to achieve the successful finished project.
