McCarthy & Stone are the U.K.’s leading retirement builder with whom Forster has enjoyed a long standing relationship.  We have the honour of previously winning their UK Sub Contractor of the Year Award and have gone on to complete numerous developments around Scotland.

A typical McCarthy & Stone design involves multiple storeys, valley/walkway gutters, turrets and usually two or three roof tile specifications.  On Cupar Lafarge Redland Mini-Stonewold, Sandtoft Britlock and Britslate were specified over an area of 1,600m2.  Unusually zinc was specified for the ridge and hip flashings in conjunction with the tiles.

Like most McCarthy & Stone sites, the construction team have limited space to operate.  Tower cranes are required, so co-ordination of material deliveries in format for crane lifting is essential.  Interaction with other trades is also critical due to the complexity of roof design.  Joiners, bricklayers, plumbers and flat roofers are always in close proximity and it takes cohesive planning to achieve the successful finished product.
